Picnic Table Safety and Care Instructions
Thank you for choosing Lifetime. It is our commitment to you, the customer, to provide quality products, expert craftsmanship and unmatched durability. By following the care instructions below, your new Lifetime table should provide years of service and enjoyment.
Safety
Leg braces must always be in locked position during use. Avoid placing a direct heat source on or near the table surface unless using a heat barrier. If two or more people are sitting at the table at the same time, we recommend they sit across the table from each other to prevent possible tipping of the table.
Cleaning
The tabletop and benches are made of high-impact polyethylene. This material will not crack, chip or peel. It is also highly stain-resistant, repelling stains from such substances as grape juice, tomato sauce, and even permanent marker. For cleaning, we recommend a mild soap and a soft-bristled brush. Abrasive cleaning materials may scratch the plastic and are not recommended.
Care
Repair rust spots or scratches by sanding the affected area lightly; using a rust-preventative spray primer; and finally, spraying with a high-gloss spray enamel paint. Avoid placing a direct heat source on or near the table surface unless using a heat barrier.
Optional Umbrella Hole
A recessed area is centered on the underside of all eight-person picnic tables that may be drilled to accommodate an umbrella. To drill the hole, use a hole saw that is 1/16-inch larger than the diameter of the umbrella pole, but no larger than 2-inch in diameter. Center the hole saw in the recessed area and carefully drill the hole. Lightly sand the edges of the hole.
Storage
Care should be taken when hanging the table on a wall for storage. Two hooks capable of holding at least 100 pounds each are required. Securely fasten the hooks into solid framework to prevent them from coming loose and the table from falling. For safety purposes, two people are required to hang and take down the picnic table to avoid any possible injuries.
