If you live in an area that is subject to high winds
and extra-heavy snowfall, consider beefing up your 8 ft
Lifetime storage shed with the Lifetime Extreme Weather
kit. This kit anchors the shed to your shed platform
from top to bottom using interior steel support channels which bolt from the roof trusses directly into the floor to reinforce doors, walls, and roof trusses. Roof trusses are reinforced with 4 large gussets (front and back) per truss as well as an additional short truss brace across the top for each long truss. The Extreme Weather Kit increases the roof load capacity of your shed from 23
psf without the kit, to 30 psf with kit installed.
(That's a 2400 lb weight load capacity for an 8 x 10! ). The kit will also
increase the wind speed rating from 11 psf to 20 psf (65 mph without the kit to 94 mph with the kit installed).
IMPORTANT: The Extreme Weather Kit provides reinforcements for UP TO THREE ROOF TRUSSES. This kit is designed for the 8 x 10 ft shed or any of our other smaller 8 ft sheds. This kit is not designed for the Lifetime Garden Style sheds in which the door is located in the longer side of the shed.
Note: Meets Dade Co. Florida shed code requirements. The installation of the Extreme Weather Kit ensures that your Lifetime shed will exceed wind pressure requirements for non-inhabited structures in Dade County, Florida. For more information regarding the code, please reference 2007 Code 1620.5 in the Dade County NOA document.
For more information about assembly, read the Owner's Manual Sample.

from Good result, but expensive and time-consuming I live in New England and bought this kit to go with my new Lifetime shed after reading reviews of the roof collapsing in a heavy snowfall. Even if all those reviews were in Canada, I figured it was better to be safe than sorry. This kit is a hefty upcharge over the basic cost of the shed--seems very high. It does do a great job of stiffening and strengthening the shed, though. The difference is very clear. Installation is somewhat time-consuming, with lots and lots of self-tapping screws. Lifetime could certainly make this process easier by selling the kit as an option with the shed, and giving you instructions for assembling both at once. As it stands, you need to undo some of the work you've done assembling the shed to assemble this kit. Lifetime could also do a better job of predrilling holes to make the process easier. Also, be aware that some options, such as the corner tool corrals, won't work with this kit installed. Overall, it took me a full day to install this kit, but am glad it's there. Suggestion for lifetime--offer a package of the shed + kit, with combined instructions and an attractive price, for those who live in more difficult climates.

from Useful Addition This made an excellent shed even sturdier. If there's any chance for high winds or heavy snow it's an easily installed and excellent addition.

from Worth the money This weather kit definitely improves the overall strength of the shed. If you are worried about weather conditions, then this is a great buy. The negatives - it took my father and I ~ 5-6 hours to install as there are a lot of parts and it is not a 1 person job. There was also an issue we had with loosening one of the bolts that was needs to install a large portion of the kit. So we had to stop for a day, get a metal clamp and pick up the next day. Also if you have the 15 foot shed which I do, this kit does not completely cover all of the shed however, it still helps a lot. In addition to the parts in the picture, there is door strengthening section which is included. Overall, great strengthening kit, however a little painful to install (if you are not handy). Note: If you installed the shed itself, then you can easily install this kit.

from Nice kit A little expensive and time consuming to install but worth the piece of mind for my investment. I was surprised though that there were 3 cross braces for the right door and none for the left.

from Important Assembly Instructions Not Found In Lifetime's Instructions There is a huge oversight in the shed assembly instructions!!!! The first step in shed assembly is assembly of the roof trusses. The instructions should tell anyone who already has the extreme weather kit to add the reinforcements to the roof trusses before the roof trusses are installed atop the walls!!!! I was not thinking good thoughts about Lifetime's technical writers as I stood on a step ladder in 90 degree heat, holding a drill over my head to put in the 100 or so self-drilling screws required to add the five reinforcing pieces to each roof truss. One of the support reps told me the extreme weather kit can be installed after the shed is complete --- that's true, but at a high cost in extra effort, 90% of which can be avoided by assembling trusses and reinforcements at the same time.Although there is no extreme weather kit for an 8x15 shed I purchased kit 60011 plus the additional parts needed to fully reinforce my 8x15 model 60075 shed. I got the help of a diligent Lifetime support rep who listed the additional parts needed and got me a quote for them. The additional parts provided were correct and complete and I felt the cost was reasonable. As mentioned above, I found the instructions for the shed and the kit lacking in that they did not mention the advantage of assembling the roof trusses with the reinforcing parts before beginning assembly of the shed. The kit instructions were generally less clear than the shed instructions. A few steps were not mentioned and had to be inferred. Placement instructions were vague in some places, especially in the section for door reinforcements. Those things made a time consuming job more time consuming. While I am very pleased with the many reinforcements provided by the kit, it took as much time to install the kit as to build the shed.

We were looking at Shed model 60222 at SamsClub. Is there an access hole provisioned for electricity any where? If not, what is your recommended method for access.
Unfortunately our sheds do not have any kind of access hole as they were not designed for electrical hook ups. Any kind of alterations made to the shed can void the warranty and with that we do not have any recommendations on how to install electrical in our sheds.

Do you offer a Extreme Weather kit compatible with 8x15 Model 6446? Could I purchase extra pieces of that kit as there may not be enough for the 15 foot length?
is there an engineered detail of what would be required to increase the psf rating beyond 30?
Unfortunately we do not have an extreme weather kit that is compatible with our Garden Style sheds or sheds with the doors on the long side. Also regarding the PSF rating the highest that our sheds are rated to are 30 if a snow load kit is installed. We do not have anything else or recommendations currently to raise it past this rating.

Does the extreme weather kit fit the 8 x 12.5 shed?
Yes, this should work with all of our 8'x12.5' sheds.

Will The extreme weather kit work with the 15' shed, with the door on the long side, if I also use 2 snow load kits?
The extreme weather kit and snow load kits are not designed to be used with our garden style sheds (door on the long side). They are not compatible.

I believe I need extra strength for snow load. I'm looking at an Extreme Weather Kit for 8 ft Sheds. I have an 8x12.5' shed. I see now that the price is listed at $299. I thought I saw the same kit on your site this summer listed for $132?
For pricing, please call 1-800-424-3865.

Does the install on a cement foundation require holes to be drilled into cement and bolts epoxied in?
We do recommend that you bolt down the supports in order to fully utilize the design of the kit. If you choose not to bolt it down it will not reach the same wind ratings as it states

Is this compatible with the Lifetime 10 x 8 ft Outdoor Storage Shed
If not, do you offer one?
Unfortunately this kit is not compatible with our garden style sheds. We offer a snow load kit for our 10' x 8' sheds but we do not have an extreme weather kit that is designed for that size and style of shed.
