Raised Garden Bed (1 Bed, No Vinyl Enclosure)

Raised Garden Bed (1 Bed, No Vinyl Enclosure)
$89.99

Description

Constructed of polyethylene plastic with rust-resistant zinc-coated screws, the Lifetime raised garden bed will not rot or attract insects like raised garden beds made out of timber. This kit contains one 4x4 garden bed . Four interlocking panels create the sidewalls. A weed barrier (not included) creates the bottom of the garden box to prevent weeds and underground pests from taking over your garden. With a raised bed you'll have the advantage of being able to customize the soil to your plants. You won't be at the mercy of the natural soil conditions in your area. The soil in traditional gardens becomes compacted from being walked upon, which slows drainage and necessitates rototilling. Not a problem with a raised bed! In a raised garden bed, plant placement is done in a style called square foot gardening. Square foot gardening allows you to grow five times as many plants because it uses 20% of the space of traditional row gardens. Last, but not least, you'll also appreciate that the interlocking panel design gives you the option of relocating your garden box if you should move or just simply want to change your landscaping design. *These plastic garden bed panels contain no BPA.

The Lifetime Raised Garden Bed Kit includes an informative Raised Bed Gardening Guide with helpful advice, tips, and tricks on plant spacing and watering techniques.

Note:You will need a Weed Barrier to cover the bottom of your Garden Bed, and 16 cubic ft of Soil Mix. Soil Mix should be three equal parts of vermiculite to retain moisture, peat moss to make the soil light and loose for drainage and proper water retention, and compost to provide the nutrients your plants need to thrive.

Raised Garden Bed (no enclosure) is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 31.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from excellent raised beds I have had these raised garden beds for 2 seasons. I purchased 4 of them. They have lasted through extreme heat, rains, Ice, snow, wind and even large branches from trees falling on them. They haven't been damaged or warped in any way. I expect to get years out of these which makes me happy because I see my neighbors wooden beds rot and fall apart after one season. Its better to buy a quality product and have it longer than not. Very pleased with these. The covers are convenient going into fall in zone 7b where frost is inevitable in October. Keeps my spinach and kale lasting a month longer than without it. i also have the screen covers with them which helps keep most of the bugs out.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best raised beds ever! I purchased a Lifetime raised bed kit 4 years ago and they look as good today as the day I bought them. They have held up well and were very easy for me to assemble. My kit came with a tent to extend the season - it wasn't the easiest to put on but I did figure it out and was able to enjoy fresh produce well into October. Since I have more time for gardening now, I plan on using it in the Spring this year to get a head start on the growing season too. If anyone is interested in doing raised bed gardening I would highly recommend Lifetime raised beds.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Cover Does Not Fit As Pictured The box is easy to set up, and appears to be durable. The cover appears to made of good quality, but does not fit as shown in the advertising photo. It does not fit down to the top of the box, leaving about a 2.5 to 3 inch gap all around. Otherwise, I like the product and the quality of the cover. The suggestion to use the stakes over the box and into the ground, although a good idea, does not work as the cover is simply not wide enough to fit that way. I used the cover anyway, although undersized, and so far my seedlings germinated. It would be nice if a cover for each box would be included (2). The concern I have is the opening all around will permit rodents, including squirrels to get into the box. A question I have is: Does the cover if ordered alone come with the box clips and velcro fastener?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Happy with Raised Garden Kit This is our third year using the Lifetime Raised Bed Garden. We assembled ours stacked so we don't have to bend over quite so far to tend our veggies. (We are in our 70's and bending isn't as easy as it used to be)They were easy to assemble, everything fits together very nicely. We used weed block fabric underneath and used Square Foot Gardening Book's recipe for making our soil blend. Plants have grown very well, and the raised beds have held up perfectly with no issues. The clear cover enclosure seems to get the seeds sprouting and growing quickly (greenhouse effect). We have left the enclosure supports in place without the cover to give a little extra support to bush peas and other tall plants. Transplanting, weeding and harvesting are easy because we can reach all areas without stepping / walking in the garden which would compact the soil. Can't say enough good comments about these Raised Garden Kits. We plan on adding another one just for strawberries.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love this Garden Box I bought two of these 4ft x 4ft boxes to replace done wood ones I'd made, but had started rotting. These are great because they are very easy to put together and unlike wood, won't rot. I've had my boxes for 3 years now and just replenish the soil each spring, and each year I have an excellent harvest. I often plant tomatoes, jalapeños, garlic, cilantro, and cucumbers in these boxes.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I love that they are portable We have had these for a couple years now. The first year we put them along our back fence line. Last year I moved them to the side of the house to see if it made a difference in how my plants grew. It did! I can take these down at the end in fall and put them in the garage for storage during winter. They go together easily and if you lose the corner clips like I did you can call customer service and they will send them to you for cheap.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Would recommend to anyone Several years neglect by a previous owner and a deep-rooted laziness on my part, coupled with the desire to do a little home gardening, led me to purchase this Raised Garden Kit at a local CostCo. It was easy to assemble, and built better than I thought it would be. All the parts fit flawlessly, even the Early Start Enclosure. I followed most fo the directions, where needed, but it isn't exactly the most complicated of construction jobs. I've assembled plenty of particle board furniture in my time, and this was far easier on all accounts. So far this season, the beds are holding their own against the elements, and my peppers are doing very well. At least the ones under the Enclosure. I would really like to see a second enclosure included in the kit, or at the very least, available for purchase. The difference between the 2 beds is dramatic. The tabs on the zipper pulls have come off on several occassions, but I blame my meat-hands and gardening with a beer in one hand for the carelessness, not the product. Raised bed gardening really is an easy way for someone with little to no experience who wants to give growing stuff at home a try, and this kit jumpstarts the whole thing. Pick up some weed barrier, a few bags of quality garden dirt, and get to work.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love this! I'm a beginning gardener and this raised bed kit makes it easy. It wasn't hard to assemble and seems like it will hold up well. My tomatoes and peppers are doing great. I can't comment on the frost cover as I haven't used it. Here in FL, we don't have much need for this. I would love to buy another one of these gardening kits. Lifetime, can you sell the two bed frames without the frost cover?

I have one of your raised beds, model 60065, with a second one soon to be delivered.  My question is can these beds be stacked one on top of the other for more depth?  If so, can you offer directions as to how to do it?  Thank you very much for your help.

Asked by: Jean42
Yes, it is possible to stack our garden beds. We do not recommend stacking the beds more then two high. There are clips that are available to order through our Customer Service Department that will allow you to stack your two individual beds together. Can you attach two of these units side by side?

Unfortunately there is not a way to attach two garden beds together side by side. You can however stack two garden beds on top of each other to make a taller bed. There are clips available through our Customer Service Team that can be ordered to stack the beds. Does the cover open open on more than one side, like front and back? Also, can they be stacked more than two high?

Asked by: Mark S
The frost cover only has an opening on one side of the cover. Also in regards to stacking the garden beds, the highest that they will stack is two high.
