Description

This Lifetime hoop comes with a 50 in. shatter proof backboard of Makrolon™Polycarbonate, which is virtually unbreakable. The XL roller base provides the extra stability you need with the portability you desire. Just fill the base with sand or water. No concrete installation required. Water is easier to manage as far as filling, moving, and draining the base. System has been tested to withstand up to 40 mph winds when properly filled with water. Sand provides more rigidity, is more suitable if you want your system to withstand higher winds, aggressive play, and leaking. This system features Lifetime’s Action Grip® height adjustment which allows you to easily adjust the height of the backboard from 7.5 ft to 10 ft with just a squeeze of the handle. With a Lifetime hoop, you can be sure you’re getting a top quality product—strong and durable. Our basketball systems are also constructed with UV-protected graphics to resist discoloration and powder-coated steel to prevent rusting. Built for fun. Built to last. Made in USA from US and imported parts. Assembly required. Covered by a 5 yr. warranty in US and Canada.

For more information about assembly, read the Owner's Manual Sample.

Reviews

XL Base, 50 in. Steel-Framed Shatterproof , Action Grip is rated 4.1 out of 5 by 28.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Terrible instructions The instructions are the worst. The parts are not to scale and they refer to everything as ABC and ABJ but the parts don't have labels on them. The fit for the backboard is so tight that if you tighten all the parts as instructed prior to trying to attach you have to take everything back apart again. There isn't a single video on this website or all of Youtube to show if your using the wrong screws since, once again its label in three letter combinations that aren't on the parts. If this company had an simple 8 to 10 minute instruction video laying out the parts and how to fasten together it would be much better.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from our 3 kids love it (ages 9, 8, 5) We bought this as a birthday gift for our son. It took me and my husband 3+ hours to put together. I disagree with the other reviews about bad directions. The directions are not difficult, but you have to follow each step very carefully.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Nice goal; Instructions could be better I'm very handy, but during assembly, I got confused twice. One confusion resulted in having to undo and redo assembling quite a bit because I got the poll backwards with the rim hanging over the base. Oops! The problem could have been easily avoided with a change in the picture in section 2.2 where you connect the poll to the base. It does say "with the lip...," but a better picture (even with the lip identified) would have helped.Another section is clearly wrong. In section 6.1, the "Right Frame Pad (BAB)" is clearly pictured differently than the Right Frame Pad under "Parts Required." In the picture in Section 6.1, Left and Right are reversed. As a final comment, the self-drilling screws are very hard to install with a rechargeable, battery drill. A corded drill would be much better.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great Hoops... for indoors I work at a school. We purchased 4 of these hoops. We have 2 inside and 2 outside. They all get LOTS of use. The ones inside have held up wonderfully. Unfortunately, filling the bases with water did not provide enough support to keep the hoops on the ground with the heavy winds we get in the Colorado foothills. The wind has blown them over several times destroying the rims. We are getting new rims and filling the bases with sand. Hopefully, that will help.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Basketball Hoop Beautiful but not easy to put together unless you are good at building things. Took a lot of time but it came out great.Wish it was easier.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Durability .... I bought this item in Oct 2010, my wife and I put it together w/o any major problems. My kids now 9 and 12 have used it endlessly with all their friends and it has held up prefectly. (Knock on wood). I am now putting this system into the ground using the extension and ground sleeve I bought from Lifetime. -- I highly recomend this product.

Ask a Question

Is it possible to replace the portable post with an in-ground post? I would like to use the backboard/rim from the 71566 and possibly replace the post to that of the 71799. Would this work without damaging the backboard or voiding my warranty?

Asked by: Klightning
Yes this system can be converted to an in-ground unit. You will need to call into our customer service team to order a new bottom pole section that is designed to be cemented into the ground. Our customer service team can be reached at 800-225-3865. Customer service hours are Monday-Friday, 7:00 am to 5:00 pm and Saturday, 9:00 am to 1:00 pm (MT).

How much does the system weigh before adding sand or water.

Asked by: fogbullet
The shipping weight of this unit is 117 lbs. so the total weight of just the unit before sand or water is added to the base is going to be right around that number.

Once assembled how easy is it to disassemble and move? And are there recommendations on how to best move it?

Asked by: KLightning
The system can be difficult to fully disassemble as the pole sections are seeded together during assembly to prevent them from coming apart during use. Everything else on the system isn't to difficult to fully disassemble. For additional information please contact our customer service team at 800-225-3865 or email customerservice@lifetime.com.

MY DRIVEWAY HAS A SLIGHT INCLINE TO IT.  DOES THIS MATTER.  IT IS FLAT BUT DOES SLOPE DOWN TO THE STREET

Asked by: HOWIE
A slight incline should not affect the system during assembly or use.

is there a difference between Lifetime and Lifetime Elite products?  Also, i am looking at a 52" portable and i like the back adjustment.  What's the difference between back and front adjustment and which one do you recommend? thanks

Asked by: Basketball mom
There might be slight differences between models but both are manufactured by our company. And we don't really have recommendations on which adjustment mechanism is better. It is all about preference for what you want to purchase
