In-ground 50 in. Square Shatter Proof Easy Lift Action Grip Basketball System with Slam-It Rim

In-ground 50 in. Square Shatter Proof Easy Lift Action Grip Basketball System with Slam-It Rim

At Lifetime, we’ve designed several options for customizing the height of our backboards. This 50 inch shatter proof, easy-to-lift basketball backboard features our Action Grip® counter-balance spring mechanism. Simply squeeze the handle and you can adjust the height of this backboard from 7.5 to 10 ft. — No sweat! This easy-to-lift basketball backboard is constructed of shatter proof Makrolon® polycarbonate, making it many times stronger than acrylic. The solid steel structure is powder-coated to resist rusting and cracking. And, of course, an in-ground basketball system offers the ultimate stability and rigidity. Made in USA from US and imported parts. Covered by a lifetime limited warranty in US and Canada (doesn't cover backboard).

For more information about assembly, read the Owner's Manual Sample.

We suggest using a Ground Sleeve to make installation easier and to allow for relocation of your in-ground basketball hoop at a later date if necessary.

Assembly & Manuals

In-Ground, 50 in. Steel-Framed Shatterproof, Action Grip is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 5.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good value Package arrived damaged appeared it had been dragged across a wooden pallet a piece of wood was wedged between the backboard and steel frame, also missing sticker that tells height of rim. I called customer service who seemed helpful but they sent the wrong sticker. As far as the goal system goes it appears fairly stout, my sixteen yr old son put it together in about 3 hr. Nice that the backboard has a steel frame. Height adjustment is farly easy although at the 10' it does not latch securely all the time. A little confusing on amount of concrete needed, one part said 6, 80# bags in another said 8, 80# bags it was the 8, 80# bags. Overall seems like a good system for the money.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for the price. I gave 5 stars because what you get for the price tag is pretty good. It does have some wobble and the backboard doesn't have the best bounce out there but I don't expect $1000-$2000 performance from a $200-$300 hoop. Installation took some time but not bad. When letting your concrete cure follow the bag of concretes instruction for cure time. Hoop instructions said 3 days and bag of concrete said 5 days. I went with the 5 days. After the concrete cured I set the middle pole to the bottom pole and then the top pole on top of those. From a ladder I was able to set the poles by hammering straight down and it worked great. A second person then held the assembled backboard up while I stabbed the 2 bolts through the support arms. This worked better than trying to lift the 2 top poles and backboard already attached.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from For the price its a good basketball system. A good value for the money. I also went with the inground sleeve to set the pole in, that way I can readjust the goal if it gets off center in a storm, or take it with me if I ever move. I can also use it to replace the pole if it ever wares out. I wouldn't suggest dunking and hanging on rim, but it is sturdy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love it! My parents purchased a system similar to this when we first moved into the house they currently live in. We loved it!! It has never had any problems and it's great for the younger kids to play on as well and the adults. It is so fun!

Ask a Question

After initial installation, can you fill the main pipe with concrete, sand, rocks, to add more stability? The bottom pole (ALE) is very stable, while the rest (ALF/ALH) could use some help.

Asked by: tommieobrien
We do not recommend filling the rest of the pole with any kind of material after assembly is complete.

What is the difference between this goal and model #1084?

Asked by: Schultz07
Looking over both systems it appears that the only difference between them is the frame around the backboard. Model 1084 has a Fusion Style backboard which means it has a plastic frame. Model 71799 has a steel framed backboard.
