Reviews

Sport Fisher Kayak (OD Green, Paddle, Backrest) is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 30.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Super stable and has a huge payload I've had this boat for 3 years now. The only downside is the weight, but even that means it is not super thin and delicate. This is by far the most stable kayak I have ever been in. It also goes straight as an arrow in the water. Lots of people don't realize that in kayaking there can be a lot of wasted energy keeping the kayak going in the right direction. Not so with this one. We are a family of 5 and have all ridden on this kayak at the same time. It is over the recommended weight, but it did it with ease. We have fished off of it many times. It is stable and wonderful. We have recommended it to everyone. We have extended family who has bought them and love it.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Workmenship My ordered Sport Fisher just arrived after close to 3-week S&H wait. I unwrapped it and found three defects - two if them would cause it to leak at the aft hatch and drain plug. The opening for the drain plug assembly had been cut about 20% too large and the edges showed around the housing. I don't understand how QA did not catch this. The aft deck at the storage hatch was pushed inward causing the edge of the hatch to bend at the rivet. Now I have to wait weeks to return it and have a new one shipped out. The season will be over and it will end up in basement until next year. Very disappointed.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Seat is comfortable, dry boxes are a joke Ordered through another vendor for my husband... the kayak seat is comfortable. HOWEVER, the dry storage "compartments" (Two 6" Storage Compartments in Rear and Center) is a joke! There are two 6" round lids that open into the ENTIRE hull of the kayak! There is not 2 "compartments". Therefore, if you throw your keys & phone into the "compartment" between your legs, it will slide from the front of the kayak to the rear & getting your stuff out is nearly impossible. Horrible engineering flaw.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great all around Kayak! Very stable and tough! I love this kayak. I have fished from a 17' canoe and always felt uneasy and thought I was going to tip it over. I have never felt this with this little beast! Stable, sleek, large carrying capacity...what is not to love. Not a speed demon but stable like a tank. I would rather have the stability and capacity. Plenty of room for my gear and easy for me to handle (not a nightmare like the canoe was!) Love it all around! Hats off to Lifetime for this little gem!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Sport Fisher has a lot going for it This kayak has been in service since July of 2011 (4 years now) and has lots of miles on it now. No one kayak is perfect for everything, but this one has a lot going for it. I, and others, have been on it with another kayaker (tandem) and also solo. I really like that my butt stays dry on this kayak. I do not like the color though. The Manta (same design, but not rigged up for fishing) comes in a lime green and it stays cool even in the hot southern Florida sun, but this olive green kayak gets so hot you can not touch it. I hope Lifetime will make the Sport Fisher in a lime green, which is also one of the colors that is safer on the water because of it's visibility (the other two safest colors are yellow and orange).I (we) use this kayak in fresh water and salt water inside and out in the Atlantic Ocean for all kinds of fishing. It is even safe and fun to surf back to the beach (unlike my over $2000 kayak which is dangerous in the surf). It tracks surprisingly well for a 10 foot long kayak. It is not a fast kayak, but that is a small price to pay for the stability and the other features of this fishing kayak. The tri-form hull generally sacrifices a little speed, but adds a lot of stability (which is great for cross-over sports like fishing or diving). When we come up on some tailing Redfish on the flats and stop paddling, the kayak stops pretty quickly and quietly and we do not have to "back paddle" which scares the fish. I attach a "milk crate" to the kayak to carry gear and use a soft cooler to keep our fish fresh. The person in the photo I am sending along with this weighs over 300 pounds and is very comfortable on the Sport Fisher. I weigh 180 and I am very comfortable on it too.I have used this kayak for four years now and there are no other kayaks in the price range that fish anywhere as well as the Lifetime Sport Fisher and I expect to use this kayak for at least another 4 years.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Safe with active children on it I bought the kayak 3 summers ago. Very happy with it. I did few motifications by adding the troller motor and deep cycle battery. Love it and plan to make another purchase soon.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent little boat! Bought this a few months ago, 10' with 3 seats, for fishing with grandson. This model is extra stable, great for flat or ripply water, lots of room for your fishing stuff. Make sure you get a leash for your paddles!!!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Nice Kayak I just bought this and  took it home .very nice looking, love all the fishing pole holders. I was kinda disappointed in the fact that  all the drain holes were plugged with plastic, and not cut out all the way, and the dry storage parts had handfuls or plastic shavings. I am hoping it floats and sealed well, also that i can some how cut out the drain holes all the way . I have seen so many good reviews and was a little sad to see the manufacture mistake letting a kayak leave like that. :(    over all cant wait to try it out and hoping the rest of it is as good as i heard about.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Stability! My husband and I rented the Sport Fisher Kayak during our summer camping trip. We wanted to fish in the middle of the lake instead of the shore so we thought we would give it a try. We have been wanting to purchase a recreational boat of this type and thought renting first to try it out would be a good idea. I was very hesitant about getting out into the middle of the lake and was worried about tipping the kayak over with myself and my husband riding tandem. I could not believe how stable this kayak was on the water. My hesitation quickly left when I easily maneuvered myself into the seat without any tipping at all. My husband stepped into the kayak from shore easily without any tipping or rocking. We are both older, very large people and even though we are young at heart, we are more cautious than we use to be so our safety is very important to us. I was pleasantly surprised at how secure we both felt maneuvering in the water. The seating was very comfortable and the assorted foot wells allowed us to maneuver ourselves on the kayak comfortably and securely without any rocking or tipping, perfect for fishing while casting or reeling in fish! We had so much fun paddling around the lake that I had forgotten all about fishing that first day! We were out for hours and it was great exercise! The wind picked up and the water got very choppy but we had no problem paddling back across the lake through the waves. The kayak was fairly light and the both of us could carry it easily from the shore to our little Toyota truck where we loaded it INSIDE the back bed. I would defiantly recommend this kayak. We were both very impressed with the quality and performance and we LOVED our time out on the lake in this kayak last summer…. can’t wait to own my own Sport Fisher Kayak this summer!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Kayak! Purchased mine on sale for a lifetime store. Took it out for the first time last week and since it was my first time on a kayak it was really weird. After a little bit I was really comfortable moving and fishing in it. Haven't used the dry compartment but its huge. The holes up where the legs go are kind of irritating because water comes in them and gets on your pant legs but when its hot who cares. It was the best fishing trip by far, caught allot of Crappie on it.

"Accessory Mount for Optional Rudder or Electric Power Motor." With the motor mount attached is it possible to add a rudder? Is this even advisable? What is a recommended rudder as none are found of the website? Thanks,

Asked by: Tony
With this model of kayak there is only one attachment slot on the backside of the kayak. You would not be able to mount both a motor and a rudder at the same time. Often the motor mount will act as a rudder as well.

Which is the more stable the 10 foot sport fisher or the Webber 11 foot ?

Asked by: Shaney88
Both models of kayak are very stable during use. The Sport Fisher kayak is a slightly wider kayak when compared to the Weber 132 kayak so will be a little more stable on the water.
