Lifetime Elite 54 in. Portable Basketball Hoop

With a portable Lifetime basketball system, you don't have to deal with a concrete installation. Just fill the 35 gal. base with sand or water to provide the necessary stability. Water is easier to manage as far as filling, moving, and draining the base. System has been tested to withstand up to 40 mph winds when properly filled with water.Sand provides more rigidity, is more suitable if you want your system to withstand higher winds, aggressive play, and leaking. 54" clear acrylic playing surface gives you the look and play or pro-style glass. Pump Adjust™ features a revolutionary height adjustment with no trigger to pull or handle to squeeze. With infinite height increments from 7.5 to 10 feet. The backboard is UV-protected to resist yellowing and fading. Steel parts are powder-coated to prevent rusting. So pick the spot, pick the height, and get your game on! Full assembly required.

For more information about assembly, read the Owner's Manual Sample.

XL Base, 54 in. Steel-Framed Acrylic, Pump Adj is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 5.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love this hoop! We've had our hoop for a few weeks now and so far it's been great! Here's a few reason this was the model we chose for our family. 1- Portability. We have it on the end of the RV pad and we needed to be able to move it around. Even with the base full of water, it is easy to move around but sturdy for play. 2- I like the combination of the acrylic and steel-framed backboard. It gives the hoop a cool look and most importantly, a great rebound. Finally, the hoop is very easy to adjust. Our 13 year old uses the hoop more than anyone else and she is easily able to adjust it to the height of her liking. I highly recommend this hoop!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Filling with water is the way to go! My friend has this setup and it is awesome! I really like the glass backboard which makes it feel like an authentic NBA hoop. My friend fills his base with water from the garden hose every spring and easily drains out the water every fall. It is really heavy and stable when filled with water but it is easy to move once the water is drained. So many portable hoops are junk, but this one is truly a quality product!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A sweet hoop I love this hoop. It works very well for adjusting and taking a beating. I've put a little sand in mine so it can withstand heavier players. It rolls well and keeps the games going. Since I beat everybody I play, it is probably the best portable hoop ever made!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Worst purchase I've ever made! 4 hours in and we still haven't gotten it together. absolutely awful. So bad, that I'm disassembling the thing and taking it back to Dicks tomorrow morning. That's assuming that it will even come apart. The parts are so ill fitting that you have to cram them in. I have 0 confidence that if we finished it, it would actually work. Terrible.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Alternative to Glass I researched portable hoops ad nauseam. I wanted a glass backboard, but since I needed a portable system, glass was too heavy, and if it were to blow over for whatever reason, it would probably shatter, then I'm out of luck. I didn't care for the "shatterproof" boards because they were loud and they had poor performance (IMO) when bouncing a ball off the backboard. So acrylic was a great compromise, which led me to this system. The performance was pretty good for non-glass, and it wasn't quite as heavy. It's a great looking backboard at 52", with a breakaway rim. The other deciding factor was assembly. This could be a deal breaker from many of the reviews I've read. I'm an 'intermediate' when it comes to handy work, but I wasn't going to spend countless hours, reading, sorting thru, getting frustrated, and having 1 or 2 other people help me put this thing together. So I used an assembly service thru Amazon. They were running a promotion at the time, so it ended up costing me $120 (flat fee) to have this assembled. It was a small price to pay for the nightmare I know I would've gone thru otherwise. I purchased mine at Dick's Sporting goods during a sale. I had some reward $ to use also, so between the sale and my rewards, it almost paid for the assembly. I opted with water in the base vs sand or gel. Since I live in WI, I need to drain and bring the hoop into the garage during the winter. Once the base is drained, it's not bad to move by yourself. It's a little heavy, but once you lean it back and balance it on the wheels, it's easy to move. I'm happy with the purchase. It's not as solid as a permanent pole mount, but it's very good for a portable. Lastly, the pump adjust for the height adjustment works good. It's easily adjustable from 7' - 10' with minimal effort. Overall, not perfect, but I would highly recommend this for a portable system for any age.

What are the major differences between the 90487 and the 71522?  Also, will the 71522 stand up to 40mph winds when the base is filled like the 90487?

Asked by: Kandace
The major difference would be the height adjustment mechanism. 90487 features a pump-adjust height adjustment while 71522 features a power lift height adjustment. They have the same size base, they'll withstand the same amount of wind.
