Lifetime offers dozens of excellent basketball system options for a convenient and accessible basketball setup at home or anywhere. Most of these systems use portable bases or in-ground poles, but some locations may have configurations or limitations on space that make a smaller Combo System favorable. These sets are a backboard and rim that can be mounted to a roof, wall, or existing pole, possibly occupying a smaller footprint.

Combo Systems, which consist of a backboard and rim, require a mounting kit to fix to the desired surface. Lifetime offers two different mounting kits.

1. Universal Mounting Kit: Mounts a Lifetime Backboard and Rim Combo to a wall, roof, or 3.5” diameter pole.

To know which mounting kit is right for you, you’ll want to know what each requires for setup and use.

The Universal Mounting Kit can be set up on a wall, roof, or 3.5-inch diameter pole. Installing it requires two people, a ladder, and wrenches of the following sizes: 1/2 inch, 9/16 inch, 7/16 inch, 3/4 inch, and 3/8 inch, as well as a 3/8-inch socket. The kit needs about 1.5 square feet of surface area on a wall or roof to install.

This kit can be installed on many surfaces and is very stable. It is best for permanent application in an area where the desired height is accessible, and where a portable base would not be feasible.

The Adjustable Mounting Kit can be set up on a wall or a 3.5-inch diameter pole. Installing it requires a level and wrenches of the following sizes: 1/2 inch, 9/16 inch, 7/16 inch, and 3/4 inch, as well as a 3/8-inch socket. It also requires either a 2 x 4 x 20-inch board or a pole with a diameter of 3.5 inches and a length between 105 and 112 inches.

This kit can be adjusted to different heights after it has been set up. It is best for application in an area where a variable height is desirable, but a portable base would not be feasible.

Once your mounting kit is installed, you can attach the Lifetime Combo Basketball Set of your choice and start shooting hoops! Take a look at our combo sets here.
