bike 1.jpgI hope all of you had a wonderful Labor Day weekend.  From neighborhood barbeques to lazy days on the lake and everything in between, it seems most people find some way to celebrate the holiday by squeezing in one last hoorah of outdoor fun before summer and warm temperatures come to an end.

Me?  Well, we are still enjoying exploring all the wonders and activities of our new home state of Colorado.  So, we started our Labor Day by attending our little community parade which honored our local firefighters for all of their heroic efforts and endless hours of protecting the Colorado Springs area during this summer's historic and tragic Waldo Canyon fire.   THANK YOU, firefighters!

bike 5.jpgThen, since it was such a gorgeous day, we took advantage of living in one of Mother Nature's most beautiful adventure lands and took our kids on their first Colorado bike trail ride.  We pedaled on the scenic Santa Fe Trail right near our house for nearly 10 miles.  Of course, getting our kiddos (particularly my 5-year-old) to ride that far required a little… um… what I'll call… "encouragement".  (Ok,  so some may technically call it a bribe.  But why squabble over lingo?  :))  So, we strategically rode in a direction where our halfway point was a quaint little town…  with an ice cream shop!

ice cream 1.jpgThis was our first time visiting the yummy Rock House Ice Cream shop that we've heard so much about.  Not only did I enjoy the ice cream, but I also enjoyed seeing the three Lifetime picnic tables on their patio!  Yep, they had two Lifetime 6' Picnic Tables, as well as  a Lifetime 4' Picnic Table.  (FYI, the 4' picnic table is my favorite size, but Lifetime no longer makes it.)  The two 6' picnic tables were both utilizing the umbrella hole feature to give customers eating their ice cream al fresco a little bit of reprieve from the intense Colorado sun.

Needless to say, the ice cream hit the spot and provided all the necessary recharge for the ride back home.   And, I (along with the Rock House Ice Cream Shop) have successfully "encouraged" my kiddos to want to ride the trail again so they can visit the ice cream shop again soon!   Shhh, please don't tell them you can actually get there by car, too! ;)

So, did you use your Lifetime picnic tables, folding tables, or other Lifetime product for your Labor Day celebration?  If so, leave us a comment and let us know, we'd love to hear how we were a part of your festivities!
