Every summer, my church plans some sort of camping/boating outing for many reasons but mostly to have fun and enjoy each other’s company. This year was no different. We ended up on the hills of Heber City at Heber Valley Camp. Knowing I worked for Lifetime, I had several requests to bring kayaks for our day at the lake. So, I checked out the trailer with 12 Lifetime Monterrey Kayaks and we spent all day Saturday paddling around. Needless to say, Lifetime kayaks were a hit! I heard nothing but positive compliments about the boats.
Many people were amazed at the stability of the kayaks. A lot of people who had never tried kayaking expected the kayaks to feel like canoes that can tip with any sudden movement. But, they’re not! Kayaks have a much wider, flatter hull than a canoe so they are a lot more stable – especially Lifetime kayaks which are designed with increased stability for beginners. After everyone realized how stable and easy the Lifetime kayaks were to use, it was only a matter of time before they decided to start a relay race around a buoy to see if the boys or girls could paddle the fastest. I’ll let you guess who won.
The other misconception several people had was thinking kayaking is a serious and/or an expensive sport, which it doesn’t have to be. Lifetime kayaks are sturdy and affordable for beginner and moderate kayakers. They are intended only for recreational use, not whitewater kayaking (which is an extreme adventure sport). In fact, one of our leader’s wife who had been very apprehensive about trying the kayaks finally decided to go out with her husband and can I just say… the look on her face once she started paddling away was priceless—pure bliss!
Apparently, our outing gave more than a few people the kayaking bug. The next Sunday at church, four people asked where they could purchase Lifetime kayaks because they had such a fun time! Since then, I’ve had another request to use the kayaks for an end of summer gathering on the lake, this time closer to home. I’m anxious to see what kind of things come from our next adventure. I think I’ll start a game of kayak rugby... that’s always fun on kayaks!
