Wow, what a week we just had. Lifetime is headquartered in Clearfield Utah. Clearfield is in North Davis County. Davis County, as you may have heard on the national news, was the sight of some historically strong winds on Thursday, December 1. The mountains we have here typically shield us from things like tornadoes, but when the jet stream is just right, wind is forced up the Wasatch mountains and slams down on us. This only happens every 10 to 15 years.

Early Thursday morning we woke up at my house to the fence missing, the trampoline missing, and flying debris. The winds were so strong that to go outside was dangerous as debris of all shapes and sizes was flying around. The National Weather Service said the winds reached up to 100 MPH. These are the same wind speeds you find in a category 2 hurricane. By the time it calmed down about 3:00 PM, the neighborhood looked like it had been hit by a bomb. (I was still at home since the roadways to Lifetime were closed).

Later, we drove around town surveying the damage. Fifty year old pines where ripped out of the ground. Roofs were torn from houses, windows broken, etc. And then, there they where… our two Lifetime sheds on display in the local Lowe’s parking lot. Unharmed, sitting next to two empty spots – their former competition. I was so proud! Now, don’t get me wrong, I am sure there were other of our sheds that were wiped-out, how could they not be? But, it was fun seeing these two just sitting there waiting to be sold.

By the way, Lifetime sells an Extreme Weather Kit for the 8-foot family of sheds. If you live in an area that frequently gets high winds, you may want to check these out. The wind rating of our sheds with this kit installed is 94 MPH. I can now say first-hand, that is not something you want to experience very often!
