Keeping Kids’ Safety in Mind

Spring is in the air―at least here in Utah. The neighborhood is slowly coming back to life as kids and their parents are reemerging from their indoor hibernation. Time to find the bicycle pump and rollerblade knee pads because, at last, the kids can go outside and play! With the comeback of Spring also comes a greater need for drivers to be aware of the little ones out and about. To this end, Lifetime is introducing a new product this season, the Child Alert sign. This unique sign is shaped like a small child chasing after a soccer ball. “Chucky,” as we affectionately refer to him, is bright construction orange and carries a sign that says “slow.” His base is made similar to the portable bases tha

Kokanee Tandem: You've never seen a kayak like this before!

At Lifetime, Commitment, Innovation, and Quality, is more than just a slogan, it is a way of doing business!   We are constantly working to take our kayaks to the next level, above and beyond what is already out there.  We take suggestions and advice from you, the people who use our kayaks, and incorporate that into our designs.  After a lot of hard work we’ve come up with a kayak that is like nothing you’ve ever seen!I would like to introduce our brand new tandem kayak, the Kokanee!  It is 10'6" in length and can hold a combined weight of 425 lbs!  Sure, there are other tandem kayaks out there, but nothing as innovative and paddler friendly as our Kokanee.  We racked our brains to come up with new improvements.  We wanted to do something that wasn’t out there already.  Something that made kayaking tha

Outdoor Retailer Wrap-up

Another year of Outdoor Retailer (OR) has come and gone.  For those of you who don’t know what OR is, it is the largest outdoor industry trade show in the whole world!  It is held in our backyard in downtown Salt Lake City.   This year, we also had the industry Demo Day in our backyard as well because it was moved from Jordenelle Reservoir to Pineview Reservoir in Ogden Valley!  We spent all day on the beautiful banks of Pineview paddling and talking to folks from all over the world.  We were super busy and had tons of people stop by to give our boats a test run!  What a day! After Demo Day, the indoor show begins.  We spend months preparing and designing both our booth and new kayaks to unveil at the show.  Thi

Summer is Here!

As a kid, my summers were always lazy and unstructured. My sisters and I were always sent outside in the morning, and the day was spent trying to find activities to do.  My point is, summer is here and it's the perfect time to purchase some Lifetime playground equipment. One of my kids’ favorite games to play on our playset at home is “Fish Out of Water.” I sit with my eyes closed, and if I think one of my kids are off the playset I yell, “Fish out of water!” If they get caught, we switch and they have to try and catch me. Kids love to get a break from school during the summer, and we love our Lifetime play

Fishing Kayaks for Father's Day

Father's Day is almost here.  If you’re like me, you are always rushing around trying to figure out what to do for Dad at the last minute.  For years I always based my Father’s Day gifts on two things, fish and sports.  My dad either gets the latest “Jets” (don’t hold it against him) football team sweatshirt or a nice wooden fish decoration to hang on the wall.  Since these were always my dad’s favorite activities, this always seemed like the best route, until he ran out of wall space for all those wooden fish decorations. I’m sure I’m not the only one at there who has a dad that loves fishing.  I mean loves it.  You know, the dad who gets up at 4am so he can get out on the water .  The dad who has more fishing rods than pairs of pants.  Instead of adding to the shiny collections of rods, or in my case,

Recreational Kayaking is Fun and Safe For the Family

Recreational kayaking is a fun and safe way for the whole family to enjoy the outdoors.  Many people are a little apprehensive when they hear the word "kayaking."  They imagine people dropping off of 20 foot waterfalls and paddling through big wavy rapids.  But that isn’t the only way to kayak.  In fact, the largest segment of kayaking is within the recreational sector.  What is recreational kayaking?  Recreational kayaking refers to paddling on flat water lakes, bays, slow-moving calm river ways, and calm oceans.  No rapids involved!  Flat-water paddling is a safe way to enjoy the water. Another misconception about kayaking is the Eskimo roll, which is another aspect of kayaking that only applies to whitewater or sea kayaking.  Recreational kayaks are not meant to roll and they are not designed to keep you inside if y

With football season just around the corner, it’s time to break out those game day shirts, hats, and foam fingers. However, as much as I love the games, an even better part of Football season is the food and good times to be had while tailgating! At Lifetime, we know how important this time of year is for so many people. And we’ve seen many times how having the right table can really make or break your event. So, before you run off to the game, be sure to check out Lifetime’s Tailgate Tables.   The great thing about our

The perfect Mother's Day gift: Kayak Adventures!

Last year I wanted to come up with something original for a Mother’s Day gift.   I didn’t want to go with the traditional flowers, birdhouses, or candy.  Showing her how much she means to me and how much I appreciate everything she does is really important.    I racked my brain for days trying to come up with something creative, something different and something that could be enjoyed for more than just one day a year.  What would surprise her? What could I do that she wouldn’t expect?  Then it hit me!  A kayak!!   When Mother’s Day arrived she was never more excited!  Instantly she began listing off all the places she could go and how jealous all her friends would be.  I think the thing she liked the most was that now we could go out kayaking together.  No

Memorial Day has past and summer’s had its unofficial start!  As the weather heats up and the kids finish up the school year, we are all in need of a vacation.  These days, taking that one big trip to Orlando or hopping on a  cruise to the islands can put a big hurting on the old wallet.   Many people are choosing smaller and more frequent vacations.  And lets be honest, who doesn’t want more vacations?  I know I do.  Here at Lifetime, we wonder, why can’t every weekend be a vacation?  Oh, but it can!! Having a few kayaks laying around for the family can make it easy, affordable and fun to stay closer to home this summer.  You can head to your local lake one weekend and the next weekend do a river float.

Overnight Kayak Adventures

For most people, when they think about kayaking, they think of a day trip to the local lake.  Maybe a vacation day spent floating on the ocean, watching the birds and listening to the calm ocean ripples.  While these trips are great, with just a bit more effort, you can really turn a kayaking trip into a fun filled outdoor adventure. What better way to bond with your family or a group of friends then to be outside, away from all the electronic distractions, kayaking and camping in the wilderness.  There are several ways to enjoy a camping and kayak trip.  Some rivers flow through campgrounds, parks or national forest land allow camping right along the banks of the rivers.   This type of trip can be great for a weekend get-a-way.  Day one is spent paddling a few miles to your secluded campsite and getting yourself all setup.
