Folding Table Tips

In the months since we’ve started this blog, I've received several questions regarding Lifetime's fold-in-half tables... interestingly enough, most people ask the basic question: How do you to unfold them? Esther from Niceville, FL wrote in yesterday: "I just bought your 5 ft fold-in-half table. It’s great, but I do not know how to open it up and there wasn't any directions. Sorry, I am 69 years old and not mechanically minded and am afraid that I might do something to mess it up..." How do you unfold it?? The first few times I’ve seen this question, I admit, I thought it wouldn’t be all that hard. But then I walked down to our showroom and tried to open a new table myself... it took a little more elbow grease thought! I looked into why this is, and it turns out our engineers developed these tables to stay safely c

Building Our Lifetime Shed - Step 1

Okey-dokey. So, our Lifetime shed arrived and we read through the assembling directions.  Now that we had the general idea of what we were about to undertake,  we were ready to start building our shed!   Well, sort of.  Before we could actually start assembling our Lifetime shed, we had to prepare the shed site. As you may recall, we plan to put our 8’x5’ Lifetime shed right up against our back fence.  But, our yard has a pretty significant slope and we can only dig about 6” before we hit solid rock…practically boulders in some spots!  And, lucky us, we also had a tree stump

Yum! BBQ Rat!

Like most people, I enjoy firing up the BBQ grill to cook dinner outside. I’m usually a big fan of steaks, marinated pork loins, and the occasional chicken breasts. Last week, however, I almost tried a new cut of meat… RAT!! Ugh. My husband opened the lid to light the grill and, much to his surprise, a rat was scurrying around under the rack! Unfortunately, this isn’t our first rat encounter. About a month ago, I was in our backyard and saw two rats run across our wooden fence. I FREAKED! We just had friends in a subdivision a few miles down the road who had one rat do $8,000 damage to their new house when a rat in their attic chewed through AC lines! And now, the nasty little vermin are daring to venture into my yard. Let me make it clear &nd

Building Our Lifetime Shed – Step 2

Since it’s been over a week since I last blogged, you’re probably hoping that building our shed really didn’t really take this long!  Don’t worry, it didn’t.  I just haven’t had a chance to sit down and write about it amidst all of our Thanksgiving festivities, preparations for family visiting, and Christmas decorating. As you’ll recall, after almost a full day’s work, we finally had our ground leveled and our wood platform built for our shed.  We strategically planned to build our 8’x5’ Lifetime shed on Veteran’s Day since Mike would have the day off, but the kids would both be in preschool.  We were under a ticking time clock– five hours of uninterrupted, kid-fre

Too Much Outdoor Stuff and Not Enough Space to Store It? Enter to Win a Lifetime Storage Box!

This giveaway has ended. Like it or not, fall officially starts this weekend which means cooler temperatures will soon be on their way and - gasp - even snowflakes for some of us.  Time to start packing up all those fun new pool toys and floaties for the winter, plus those cute patio furniture cushions you bought this summer. Oh, and don't forget the kids' balls and outdoor toys, too.  Uh-oh.  If you're like me, this is when you start to think…  "Umm.  This stuff was great in the summer, but now where am I going to put everything when we aren't using it?" I completely understand your

Hide it Under a Skirt

My inspiration for this blog came from a design show I was watching on HGTV a few weeks ago – Summer Showdown.  Two expert HGTV designers took the same exact family room and competed to make it the most functional and attractive for the family.  Vern Yip was one of the designers.  I love Vern’s design style….very simple, comfy, and cozy.  And, he’s not over-the-top with whacky, impractical ideas like a lot of the designers. Anyway, the family kept a huge dog kennel in their family room.  Vern very cleverly put a table over the kennel and used it as an end table beside the couch.  He then used fabric to make a fitted cover for the table to hide the kennel and make the end table attractive.  (Here’s the

Winter Kayak Storage Tips

It’s that time of year again for a lot of us.  Time to store that kayak away for the cold cold winter.  We are often asked about how to store a kayak while it is not being used, especially during the chilly winter months.  So today, I am here to offer up some winter kayak advice! First piece of advice, kayaks are not for sledding!  They go fast but they don’t like the cold, so keep them off of the snow!  Ok, now for the real tips.  As always, make sure you wash your kayak after use.  This is especially important when you will be putting it into storage for several months.  Mild dish soap and water works just fine, no need for fancy cleaners.  Make sure you remove sand and dirt, even from those little crevices. And, just think

Plastic Sheds

Plastic storage sheds are a must-have for anyone that has a yard. Storage sheds in general help you to keep your tools and other “yard stuff” organized, out of the weather, and out of the yard. Bags of compost or fertilizer store well in a weather-proof shed, and if you lock your outdoor storage shed these potentially harmful bags can be stored out of reach of children, pets, or vandals. The Newest Lifetime Shed Family Member

I’m excited to talk about our new shed that we have been busy working on over the past few months. We have designed a new size with some fresh new features. Through customer research, we learned that you, our awesome consumers, like the width of our 8-foot wide family of sheds, but some of you just don't have the space for a deep shed like our 8x10 or 8x12.5. This new shed is 8 feet wide and 6 feet deep! The shed also has a new look with vertical siding and windows in the doors. It has corner trim to make the colors pop and look good in your yard. We’ve also added a skylight that runs the full depth of the shed to allow natural light in so you can more easily see your stuff. Also, this new shed comes with shelving to help you organize your bug spray, weed killer, and whatever else you want to store. With our new design this shed is ev

Congratulations to Stacy J. of Syracuse, Utah!  She is the lucky random winner of our July giveaway and the happy new owner of a Lifetime Outdoor Storage Box!  Thanks to all of you who took the time to enter our giveaway this month.   After watching the video, the feature Stacy liked best on the Lifetime Outdoor Storage Box is the spring-hinged lid.
