Fly Fishing and Pink Kayaks Help Casting For Recovery Breast Cancer Survivors

October 8, 2012

Casting for a Cure

CLEARFIELD, UTAH — Fly fishing enthusiasts can now show their support for breast cancer survivors by taking to the waters in a special edition pink kayak. The pink Emotion Glide™ Angler Kayak sports the Casting for Recovery® logo and a portion of the proceeds from each special edition kayak sale is donated to the Casting for Recovery® organization - a national non-profit breast cancer support and educational program for women.

The Emotion Glide™ Angler Kayak is a custom 9'8" sit-inside fishing kayak. It features two Scotty Fly Rod Holders with threaded mounts and is the only pink kayak on the market to have holders specifically for fly rods. The padded adjustable seat, thigh pads, and adjustable foot brace system provide comfort and convenience. The ledge lock paddle keepers make switching from paddling to fishing easy and efficient, while the bow and stern deck rigging keeps gear secure. The lightweight design and front and back handles allow for easy transportation.

The pink Emotion Kayak is available for consumers to purchase for their own use in the Lifetime Store Online for $550 with $25 of each sale donated to Casting for Recovery®.  In addition, Emotion Kayaks, which are manufactured by Lifetime Products, Inc, also has donated several special edition kayaks for Casting for Recovery® participants to utilize during their therapeutic fly fishing retreats.

Casting for Recovery® provides fly fishing retreats at over 30 locations throughout the United States for women who have or have had breast cancer. The goal is to enhance the lives of breast cancer survivors by offering no-cost retreats tailored to promote and support mental and physical healing, shared experiences, and the hope that comes from learning new skills. During the retreats, participants are introduced to the rhythmic motion of fly casting - an ideal physical therapy for exercising the joints and soft tissues affected by treatment and surgery.

Established in 1986, Lifetime Products, Inc. is one of the largest kayak manufacturers in the U.S., manufacturing kayaks and paddleboards under both the Lifetime and Emotion Kayaks brands.
