Local Manufacturer Makes Health Care Top Priority with New Medical Clinic at Work
May 4, 2012
CLEARFIELD, UTAH — Access to health care is a popular topic of conversation nowadays. Fortunately, the more than 1,500 employees of Clearfield-based manufacturing company Lifetime Products Inc. are now able to conveniently receive medical care at their work location with the opening of the new Lifetime Health Clinic earlier this week.
"We know how difficult it is for employees to squeeze doctor appointments into work schedules and school schedules," said Lifetime Vice President of Human Resources Denise Wandling. "Providing this employee benefit of on-site medical care helps save our employees both time and money. And, having more convenient access to health care will help ensure we have healthier employees overall which means happier and more productive employees. Hopefully, the easier we can make it for our employees to see a doctor, the more likely they'll be proactive with their healthcare needs."
The Lifetime Health Clinic, which is conveniently located in the Freeport Center next to the Lifetime headquarters and manufacturing facilities, is open only for Lifetime employees and their dependents. To ensure top-quality care, the Lifetime Health Clinic is operated in partnership with Intermountain Healthcare with a full-time, licensed medical provider and two medical assistants, as well as a part-time physical therapist.
The new 5,400-square-foot facility features a waiting room, three exam rooms, a treatment room for work-related traumas, and a physical therapy room. The Lifetime Health Clinic can provide Lifetime employees and their family members with preventative care needs such as immunizations, well-baby and well-woman checkups, and chronic disease management. There is also a full, up-to-date lab to provide general health screenings. In addition, the Lifetime Health Clinic is able to provide urgent/non-emergency care and minor procedures. All work-related visits to the Lifetime Health Clinic are always free of charge, and all other visits require a small fee to cover the Clinic’s supplies.
"Even if an employee already has a trusted primary care physician, the Lifetime Health Clinic gives them convenient and quick access to a medical provider when their own doctor may not be available to see them right away," said Wandling. "Since the Lifetime Health Clinic is open only for Lifetime employees and their families, in most instances, we can provide same-day, no-wait visits."
