Local Retailer "Backyards Inc." Changes Name to "Lifetime Store"
December 1, 2010
CLEARFIELD, UTAH — Local retailer Backyards Inc., announced today that it is officially changing the name of its six stores along the Wasatch Front to “Lifetime Store”.
"This is an important change for local manufacturer Lifetime Products, the Backyards Inc. store, and our Utah customers," explained Regional Store Manager Nathan Ashby, "even though Backyards Inc. has always been owned by Lifetime, there was no easy way for customers to instantly recognize it as Lifetime’s factory retail store, and that they can find all Lifetime products in the store. By renaming the store and using the Lifetime logo, there is now an obvious connection between our products and our stores."
The change will take place over the next four months ending with updates to all outdoor signage, completed by February of 2011. Lifetime Communications Manager Katie Salter said that the change reinforces the manufacturer’s local awareness efforts over the past year through billboards, bus ads, and commercials. "This upcoming year will be the 25th anniversary for Lifetime Products, so it was a good time for a change," said Salter, "the factory store name change demonstrates to Utahans that we are proud to be a long-time manufacturer headquartered here in Utah." Salter said that both Lifetime’s factory stores and online store will share the same name.
The Lifetime Store showcases products made by Lifetime Products, including folding tables and chairs, basketball equipment, outdoor sheds, playground equipment, kayaks, and soccer goals. The Lifetime Store is a retail store owned and operated by Lifetime Products, the world's largest manufacturer of polyethylene folding tables and chairs, and residential basketball equipment. Because it is a factory store, the Lifetime Store carries both new and seconds, or blemished, of Lifetime products. In addition, the Lifetime Store is the only Utah dealer to carry a full line of Backyard Adventure playsets.
Lifetime opened its first factory store (later named Backyards Inc.) in March of 2003 at the Freeport Center in Clearfield, Utah. Today, it has six stores located in Clearfield, Draper, Orem, Riverdale, Taylorsville, and Salt Lake City.
