Lifetime Products Unveils Maintenance-Free EcoHouse Shelter
January 22, 2010
CLEARFIELD, UTAH — Lifetime Products, the world's largest manufacturer of blow-molded folding tables and chairs, has unveiled its newest state-of-the-art product - a maintenance-free shelter called The EcoHouse. The 377 square foot EcoHouse is Lifetime's economical and ecological shelter solution for areas of housing crisis due to disaster or general impoverishment.
The revolutionary Lifetime EcoHouse can be assembled in about 72 man-hours - complete with sustainable electrical, plumbing, and waste management - to make it a fully-functional four-room home; or a school, clinic, dining area, or meeting area. The EcoHouse uses the same blow molding and steel technology applied to Lifetime's outdoor storage sheds, with additional customized features that make it feel and act like a home, including external walls, internal walls, flooring, lockable doors and windows, and a roof with support beams.
"Lifetime Products has always taken pride in its innovations," said Richard Hendrickson, president of Lifetime Products, "We are enthusiastic about our new housing solution and excited to see the possibilities to make a positive difference on housing crises as opportunities unfold."
Lifetime is currently in communications with the Red Cross to decide how best to send aid to Haiti, and how to best utilize the EcoHouse after immediate needs are met. In the meantime, Lifetime is donating blow-molded wheelbarrows and folding tables that it manufactures to the Haitian relief effort - both products assemble quickly and can be used right away.
Manufactured 100% in Lifetime Products' Clearfield, Utah factory, the EcoHouse is currently distributed through Lifetime's facility in Monterrey, Mexico. Lifetime's partner company, EcoReaccion, is utilizing the structure to improve impoverished areas of Mexico. Lifetime plans to continue to fulfill economical and low-maintenance housing needs throughout the world by seeking out more innovative partnerships to develop and distribute its EcoHouse and possibly other shelter solutions.
