LIFETIME WINS JUDGMENT IN TABLE PATENT CASE PURCHASES NORTHPOLE TABLE DIVISION

April 8, 2003

CLEARFIELD, UTAH – Lifetime Products Inc., a worldwide leader in the folding table market, announced today that a Consent Judgment was granted in its patent infringement litigation case with NorthPole in connection with blow-molded, polyethylene folding utility tables.

The Consent Judgment granted in the United States District Court for the Northern District of California today concluded that Lifetime’s folding table patents are valid, enforceable and infringed.  As a result, NorthPole has agreed to the entry of an injunction permanently enjoining it from manufacturing, selling, or importing blow-molded tables.  “This Consent Judgment is an enormous victory for Lifetime,” explained Lifetime Sales and Marketing Vice President Brent Allen.  “Lifetime invented the first blow-molded utility table and we are dedicated to protecting our patents and intellectual property.  This settlement demonstrates our commitment to protecting Lifetime, its employees, and its consumers.“

To enhance its ability to meet the growing demand for its products, Lifetime also acquired the assets of NorthPole’s blow-molded table division, including its factory located in Xiamen, China and all of NorthPole’s intellectual property directed to blow-molded tables, further strengthening Lifetime’s worldwide patent portfolio.    Allen continued, “Purchasing NorthPole’s table division in China is a very beneficial, strategic decision.  Lifetime will be able to expand its manufacturing to other areas of the world to be a more efficient and competitive company.”

In 1998, Lifetime introduced the first blow-molded polyethylene folding utility table to the market.  Blow-molded polyethylene tabletops are stronger, lighter, and more durable than wood, and are stain resistant.  Today, Lifetime is the world’s largest manufacturer of these blow-molded, polyethylene folding tables and chairs.  Lifetime’s tables and chairs are available at warehouse clubs, home improvement stores, office superstores, and discount stores.
